Activities Heading

Native Animals Heading
The Clarence River Wilderness Lodge is home to many rare and endangered native species, such as the Brushtailed Rock Wallabies which can be found sunning themselves on the rock ledges opposite the Lodge. Platypus viewing is for the early risers. These unusual monotremes feed at first light and mainly frequent the wider section of the waterhole.

Paddling and Scenic Views - what a great combination!

The Clarence River wilderness Lodge can provide a range of activities during your stay. The canoes are available free of charge for guests if used within the confines of the waterhole at the Lodge. For extended downriver trips, a hire rate is incurred. Snorkels and masks are available for guests for viewing the underwater activities.

Birdwatching Heading
In a canoe or on foot. Over 160 different types of birds have been sighted in this area. A handbook on birds, and birdlists are available at the Lodge before setting out on your birdsearch.

Bushwalking Heading
Walks range from easy riverside strolls to challenging climbs with magnificent views on arrival. Steve and Sharon know the area intimately and are both available for guidance with bushwalks.

Fishing: N.B.
The Clarence River Wilderness Lodge has a no fishing policy. This is due to this section of river being habitat and breeding ground for the endangered Eastern Cod.

Guests wanting to fish have the option of walking 1 km upstream (ask for direction from Steve or Sharon) or driving to Paddy's Flat.

The Platypus! You might even see some of these

A fishing license is required in N.S.W. These are available at Tabulam Post Office.

Gold Panning heading
This property is part of the old Tooloom Gold Fields where gold was first discovered in 1857. Remnants of these old diggings can still be found with the odd speck of gold panned out.
